![]() ![]() ![]() Given that "ordinary users" may have trouble downloading and installing the stable release, I wonder what drives people to try the beta, and what suggests that it should be ok to use for real work? If I had this problem with MS Office I would do likewise.Īcknak wrote:Sorry, this is a little off-topic, but I find it fascinating how common it is that "ordinary users" will seek out, download and install an OOo beta with apparently no intention beyond using it for daily work. One thing I wont be doing is to reinstall XP, if that's what's required then I'll pay someone to convert my OO files to Office 2007 and tell the OO bigots to send their stuff to me as plain text because I no longer support OO. Whatever have to I do to get OO back, my Raid Array will be powered down, I have lost any trust I might have had in OO. ![]() ![]() I don't put a very high value on the stuff that's disappeared as I don't do that much customisation, but I do value my time and its now a day and a half since I've been able to read or edit an. Is there a clean up utility (like the ones for Adobe Flash, Norton Security, MS Onecare etc) that I can run to erase all traces of OO from my system so that I can do a real install, rather than a upgrade. Now that I've lost the file associations, templates and settings, I would simply like to get back to a clean Install, one where I do NOT get the options to Modify, Repair or Remove - just Install. All my settings have gone too, even my Name! My documents are OK, they are well away from the system drive on a mirrored raid array.Īfter uninstalling OO, and installing it again it gave me the options to Modify, Repair or Remove - I assumed it would only give me Install, given that I had just Uninstalled it. I can't see anything in the options menu to restore them, and I've done an uninstall/install to no avail. After installing the OO 3.0.0 beta (build 9328) all file associations for OO have disappeared, and OO related entries in the Shell New menu are gone too. ![]()
